The goal of the course is to acquire knowledge and to develop and improve practical skills in safe standard surgical techniques, both in conventional and laparoscopic surgery, as developed and practiced by an international faculty.<\/p>\n<h3>Structure of Course &#8211; Basic &amp; Intermediate (Groups A &amp; C)<\/h3>\n<p>The course is divided into 3\u00bd days open surgery on suture- and anastomosis techniques in the GI-tract, followed by 2\u00bd days on laparoscopic surgery and techniques (please refer to above). Both parts are fully integrated in the whole course and cannot be booked separately.<\/p>\n<p>The course offers 2 groups:<\/p>\n<p><strong>A:<\/strong>\u00a0Basic Skills Course (Beginners)<\/p>\n<p><strong>C:<\/strong>\u00a0Intermediate Skills Course (experienced)<\/p>\n<p>Depending on your experience, the course organization will decide whether you go into course A or C.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Course opening: Saturday, February 28, 2015, 14.00 h<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Course ending: Friday, March 6, 2015, 12.00 h<\/strong><br \/>\nBasic- and intermediate course (requests as to which course is preferred by participants will be considered but cannot be guaranteed).<\/p>\n<h3>Structure pilot project &#8211; Advanced (Group D)<\/h3>\n<p>This pilot project course is addressing wellexperienced surgeons and can be booked for two independant modules but also combined:<\/p>\n<p>a) colorectal surgery<\/p>\n<p>b) hermia surgery<\/p>\n<p>Lectures and practical exercises in this pilot projekt will be separated from the regular course and will be focussed to the corresponding module. The program will be published in a seperate publication.<\/p>\n<h3>Language<\/h3>\n<p>Lectures, panel discussions and practical exercises are in English only, however, the table instructors will provide further information for the practical exercises in other languages if needed.<\/p>\n<h3>Lectures<\/h3>\n<p>Lectures will be held daily before the practical exercises. i.e. from 08.00 &#8211; 09.15, 14.30 &#8211; 16.00 and 16.30 -17:30<\/p>\n<h3>Practical Exercises<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Open conventional techniques (3\u00bd days)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The course will allow participants to experience practical \u201chands-on\u201d in small groups on prepared gastrointestinal material.<\/p>\n<p>Daily: 09.45 &#8211; 12.15 and 17.30 &#8211; 19.30 h<br \/>\nBasic Skills Course (Group A): Saturday until Tuesday and Friday<br \/>\nIntermediate Skills Course (Group C): Saturday and Tuesday until Friday<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Laparoscopic techniques (2\u00bd days)<\/strong>&gt;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this part of the course, participants will experience laparoscopic techniques in practical exercises.<\/p>\n<p>Daily: 09.15 &#8211; 12.00 and 17.30 &#8211; 19.30 h<br \/>\nIntermediate Skills Course (Group C): Sunday until Tuesday<br \/>\nBasic Skills Course (Group A): Tuesday until Thursday<\/p>\n<h3>Assessment<\/h3>\n<p>Participants will be continually assessed in all exercises as well as all teachers and instructors will be by the participants.
